348 million US dollars transferred in 2014: Diaspora invests in Togo

2014 data from the World Bank on migrants remittances to their countries of origin have just been published and unsurprisingly the remittances of the Togolese diaspora as those of other diasporas are still equally important. According to the World Bank US $ 348 million (about 182 billion CFA francs) were transferred by the Togolese diaspora this year compared with US $ 337 million in previous years. This sum represents 7.8% of GDP and situates the Togolese diaspora as one of the most generous in Africa. (suite…)
